Re: D. R. P. T. ! (dietary revamp processing thread ;) )
Eating primal has messed a bit with my regularity. Do you think that could be part of the issue? I'll be honest that I haven't really delved into why and what to do about it, since it's kind of intermittent for me. I did notice on my Facebook feed that Balanced Bites has recently done a podcast episode on "All About Poop" that I've been meaning to listen to... Don't know if that's helpful or not, but I thought I'd throw that out there.

Re: D. R. P. T. ! (dietary revamp processing thread ;) )
Just wanted to say that I have officially lost 13 pounds and I eat a TON of fat. I'm reading Eat Fat, Lose Fat right now, but hadn't read it prior to bumping up my fat intake.
I can certainly tell the difference in my mood, hunger levels and the scale when I've eaten more fats. Right now it's a ton of butter, coconut oil and avocado. Jodi, I hadn't yet thought about putting olive oil on my foods. I was doing it only when eating salads since I stopped using dressing. (The combo of olive oil and a bunch of goat cheese on my salad has made me forget that Ranch dressing is even a thing!) I think I'll start drizzling olive oil on my foods before eating.

(((hug))) To the bump mamas That must be tough. I am not sure because we never had that. DD1 who struggled with looking pg whenever she ate certain foods had that disappear almost instantly on GAPS.
To those of you who are bloated, how do you feel? Are you gassy? Bloated? Heavy? And have you considered pushing broth/ferments? If it is yeast die off, that will help it along considerably. Clay would help too. I have to admit the one thing I am not keen on in paleo/primal is the lack of healing foods. I am beginning to believe that grain/sugar free is not near as important as broth and ferments in the scope of a healthy body

The Make It Paleo cookbook talks about the healing properties of bone broth and the benefits of probiotics

Re: D. R. P. T. ! (dietary revamp processing thread ;) )
I think they're really important . I may be in different paleo/primal influences but I read a lot about the importance of bone broth, ferments, etc... as part of the lifestyle. It's something I'm slowly dipping my feet into (making my own broth started this week). A few paleo cookbooks i have talk about it and give recipes too.

Re: D. R. P. T. ! (dietary revamp processing thread ;) )
whoa. that's a lotta broth. soooooo, I should probably jump on the bandwagon.
Tell me about broth! I'm sure there's lots of threads on it but I'm an impatient type 3. Quickly, so as not to bore anyone else who already knows about it: you make it by slow-cooking a bone for a really long time, right? I read about the difference between bone and meat broth once...anyway. And how to do you incorporate it into so many meals? what are the benefits you have noticed? |

Re: D. R. P. T. ! (dietary revamp processing thread ;) )
That's right. I think it's basically the same thing, you just want to get all the good stuff out of the bones into the broth so when you drink it/cook with it you get those health benefits .

I've made it a couple times but only used it to cook rice...

Re: D. R. P. T. ! (dietary revamp processing thread ;) )
Can I join?
I've done GAPS for my boys but not myself. I've been correlating ragey episodes to gluten consumption, so I went GF for a weekend saw measurable changes in my equilibrium. Fell off the wagon last week, as we were out of town for MILs funeral. I'm back on the wagon this week. GF, baby! It's a baby step. ---------- Post added at 08:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:48 PM ---------- Oh, and I've been making bone broth weekly now for over a year. Usually chicken. I enjoy it plain. The boys, not so much, so I cook stuff in it, add it to sauces, gravies... |

Re: D. R. P. T. ! (dietary revamp processing thread ;) )
Random question - is it okay if I put lots of Real Salt in my bone broth when I drink it? Or is there any reason to drink it "bland?"
