Re: Ballroom dance dress moral support thread
You are kind of inspiring me to start my own Regency Dress support thread.

Re: Ballroom dance dress moral support thread
I totally helped my girlfriend do a duct-tape dummy!!! It was hilarious. But, it totally worked and she uses it all the time. Ok, not ALL the time because she sews more for her girls then herself. But, when she sews for herself, she total uses it.
The only thing was, she found it took A LOT to stuff it. As far as the dress... you can totally do it. I've made my daughter a couple of Princess dress up dresses. Rapunzel and Silvermist Fairy. Step by step. My friend (who I helped with the duct tape) she has done more then I have. And OFTEN combines different patterns to get "just the right look". She's a little obsessive about even the dress up stuff looking just right. Funny. But it works and looks great. Good luck!!! ---------- Post added at 12:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:22 PM ---------- Oo! Just saw the pic of the leotard! Gorgeous color! Love it!!! |

Re: Ballroom dance dress moral support thread
So here is my progress on the torso part. I was waiting to take pictures until my house was clean...then I just decided I didn't care I'm gonna try these as clickable thumbnails:
I didn't have good lighting, so the color isn't great. Also, some of the wrinkles will be smoothed out by the weight of the skirt pulling down. I'm planning to add skinny straps in the back that start at the shoulder strap and fan out to different points around the back. ---------- Post added at 04:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:24 PM ---------- Oh, and the black shorts aren't part of it

I love it (and it's just the leotard right now!). Such a pretty fabric. Can't wait to see the whole thing! I pretty much only sew bean bags .
