Subbing homemade beans for canned
I'm going to try a whole bunch of recipes for muffins and bars that use beans instead of flour. Almost all call for a 15 ounce can of drained and rinsed beans but I prefer to cook my own. If it was soup or a casserole I'd just estimate but I want these to turn out so my kids eat them.
Anyone have a reliable measure for a 15 ounce can of drained and rinsed beans? |

https://www.thespruceeats.com/dried-...ements-1388322 This might help. You can also measure them after cooking the beans Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

Re: Subbing homemade beans for canned
I would measure 15 fluid oz after cooking. Only enough liquid to just cover beans in the measuring cup. Then drain and measure with a measuring cup and see what you have.

Re: Subbing homemade beans for canned
It's 2 cups of cooked beans. Technically 1 3/4 cups

Re: Subbing homemade beans for canned
For convenience I usually do 1 1/2 cups. 2 is too much.

Re: Subbing homemade beans for canned
Thanks! I'll try 1 3/4 cups and see how that goes.

Re: Subbing homemade beans for canned
I found this recipe
https://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/no...bean-brownies/ Which calls for 1 drained and rinsed 15 oz can of beans, or 1 1/2 cups, or 250g. I love using my kitchen balance instead of measuring cups so I've been using 250g in recipes and it's been great. |
