Gluten Question
I just spent the past five days eating no carbs outside of veggie carbs. No gluten passed these lips. I noticed that I felt so much better and I lost about five pounds. Today, we were so, so busy and I ended up giving in to a donut...okay...two donuts. Now, my stomach feels like it's been pumped up with air, and my throat area feels super sore/inflamed.
Is this possibly a bad response to gluten? It could be sugar but I can't imagine this amount of inflammation so quickly from sugar. My joints feel sore and I feel like I need to take a small dose of Benadryl to calm down the response.

Re: Gluten Question
this honestly not sure.. five days no carbs/gluten isn't long. it could be but it could also be a whole number of things.
Margaret has a medically diagnosed gluten allergy but not a full celiac one (because we haven't done a full test) she doesn't always have an immediate reaction with a gluten exposure. Some might recall we tried to introduce gluten back into her diet after it was removed over a year. She seemed fine for a while but them bam and bad yucky reaction. While I'm low carb/gluten my body probably gets some exposure almost daily. Certain carbs especially overly processed junky stuff though always make me feel bloated sore.

I know that I am not flat out allergic but it does seem to point to some sort of sensitivity. I just wondered what others might experience when they are exposed to gluten.

Re: Gluten Question
My DD reactions..
Itchy skin *our first clue of exposure* sore muscles super hyper like HDHD on hyper drive vomiting weight loss (and its just hard for her to gain in general) loose very explosive bowels (it took us removing gluten to get her potty trained because their was no hope with it) fatigue *super crash after hyperness* mouth sores *something I notice and its soon followed but the vomiting and constipation/diarrhea sore teeth exzema ---------- Post added at 10:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:09 PM ---------- Oh I also agree it may very well point to a gluten allergy or sensitivity. We went GF as a family for at least a few months but when I started adding it back into the non GF of us I honestly didn't notice any big change. Ive always had icky reactions with certain carbs. Ive figured it was a combo of things though.. Its just hard to say with a single exposure.

Re: Gluten Question
it very well could be, but the best way to know for 100% is to go 90 days without *any* gluten, including hidden gluten. Then, and only then, trial and go through the motions of testing officially with the minor amounts needed to show damage in the gut for a month.

Re: Gluten Question
If you dont usually eat sugar and then do it can also cause you to feel yucky after the sugar high IME
