Default High blood sugar from Craisins in particular

My blood sugar skyrockets when I eat just a few Craisins. I can drink a Coke -or any other sugar equivalent- and the same thing won't happen. . is it something about Craisins in particular? (The ingredients are cranberries and sugar but it doesn't specify what kind of sugar.)

Another thought I had is if it is some sort of reaction that my body has to it. Are there other people who have a blood sugar sensitivity to a particular food?

rather dumb question but I'll assume your doing a finger stick to check.. Are you making sure your hand is washed. I'll often get a really high reading after a sweet but not seemingly outrageously sugary snack because I didn't wash well enough and my finger has the residue of what ever on it so I get ultra high readings.
I cant take enough insulin to justify drinking a soda though unless I'm already in a pretty nasty hypo. Crasins though ehh I can handle okay.

FWIW my blood sugar goes way up when I eat peanuts. Like plain shelled type peanuts. Nothing about peanuts should cause the rise but it does.

A far as I know no allergy. Ive had extensive allergy tests done over the year and peanuts shell fish etc never even ping the tests.. (other areas do although I've never had enough of any reaction to eliminate the food). Ive actually talked to other diabetics who experience the same reaction though don't seem to have any other "allergy" or sensitivity to them.

That's a really great point! I do wash my hands, but it's something I wouldn't have thought of and Craisins are one of the foods in which you do actually handle the sugar.

I'm only pre-diabetic. Just keeping an eye on things.

ah ha.
See that's what I'm beginning to think. That there is some sort of personalized food sensitivity to cranberries. So it is possible.

Ive learned somethings just don't make sense. little pack of peanuts (like those little lance packs) have 5 carbs a pack.. Honestly I shouldn't even have to bother taking a bolus for that little unless I need to do a pre correction. I'd normally not see more than about a 15-20 point hike for a 5 carb meal.
I normally bolus at a between 1:12 and 1:16 ration depending on time of day and time of month. (insulin needs often double or triple if I'm sick though).
Yet those little packs of peanuts I need to take between 1.5-2 units of insulin.. which in theory should cause a hypo if my starting number is in range.. Never does though.
I don't even have the same issue with peanutbutter. just the plain peanuts.

Not peanut butter. So weird!!

Also, I'm curious, your blood sugars go higher or lower when you're on your period?

Some foods are just strange. Seriously.

DD can eat Frosted Flakes, (not a drop of fibre in them) and not have the kind of sugar spikes she gets from Mini-wheats (which do have fibre). It should be the other way around, but it's not.

on the hand washing. One night, DH tested DD before he came to bed. Her meter registered as "High", meaning too high to read. She had been low an hour earlier...and handled her own glucose tabs. I told DH to wipe her finger with a wipe, and she tested in range.

I go lower when on my period.. Actually my insulin needs increase a touch right before then drop significantly during.

When I was gestational diabetic, I received advice from a friend who had also been with her pregnancy. She couldn't go near french fries for fear of going high - I could eat them (in moderation) without issue. My sugar trigger was sugar candies (not chocolate) like twizzlers, skittles and that sort. Any more than a bite and I had to balance it with a couple of servings of meat or cheese. Four skittles and two cheese sticks - yum! (kidding)
