Luckily, my DH doesn't have to witness any of my secretive watering practices. The only place I would ever discuss this is on GCM.

So...is there anyone willing to try it with edible plants?? Surely it can't be worse than other fertilizer...can it? I wanna grow tomatoes this summer...and...well....if it would help and not hurt....and I would ever get a period....

I did this in college, but I just dumped my keeper on some seedlings and burned the leaves. I think it's better to dilute it in water, and water the dirt, not getting any on the actual plant itself. And it would be even BETTER to add it to your compost pile if you have something like that. Then it could break down, and the compost itself could be added to the plant. You can pee on your compost too. Nitrogen rich. (Not that I've done it, I haven't really. Though wearing ankle length skirts and going commando would make it really easy.... )

oh my! my DH would make me log off of GCM FOREVER if he knew about this thread and that I'm considering this

I'd use it on eatable plants It's not like you're eating your MF - the soil's breaking it down into basic nutrients - nothing wrong with that

the idea of peeing on your compost pile. I am making a tumbler compost bin in a rain barrel this spring - I just had some weird mental image of somehow peeing in that and what my neighbors would think.

Once you've read the "Humanure Handbook" the idea of peeing on your compost pile is really tame.

I actually heard of this idea back in 1986 in a high school s*x-education lesson! It was about contraceptive devices and it ws suggested that a diaphragm could double as a menstrual cup and as an added bonus the menstrual flow it caught could be used on the garden with wonderful results. I thought it was pretty cool, but a number of the girls were totally grossed out and wrote a major letter of complaint about it!

I use a diva cup and cloth pads as back up, but I am such a terrible gardener and kill everything, so I don't think even this could save any poor plants that had the misfortune to live in my garden.

I would use it on my ediables if I'm not going to give any to anyone. With my tomatos I plan on making salsa and tomato sauce, and I can imagine if I gave it to someone and they found out, well they'd probably be upset. I know I have no diseases and such, but they don't know that. And I kinda wanted to do this for a blog post, using four marigolds (or maybe 3 if I'm going solely for organic fertilizer), a control pot, a miracle gro chicken poo pot, a menstrual pot, and maybe a osmocote pot. But I'd have to figure a way to make sure they're getting equal parts of fertilizer.

I'd use it on edibles We don't have any flower garden. But I draw the line at using it on root vegetables.
I'd love to throw it in my compost, but then I won't get to see the awesome results! Maybe next winter I will do that. I'd hate to see all those beautiful nutrients going down the drain.

Wow, did I ever think I'd be saying something like this.....
