Diflucan and probiotics
Anyone know if these can be taken together? Ds is 5 years old and he has been battling thrush for weeks. He has asthma and it is a side effect of his medication. I tried everything-gentian violet, grapefruit seed extract, yogurt, probiotics and it just kept coming back. So, today I started Diflucan. Does anyone know if I can still give him probiotics? It is like an antibiotic and I need to give them a certain number of hours apart?

Re: Diflucan and probiotics
I took Diflucan and probiotics at the same time (which is what my naturopath prescribed).

Re: Diflucan and probiotics
I think you'll want to alternate them during the day so you're not taking both at the same time

Re: Diflucan and probiotics
I was thinking maybe if I give him Diflucan at night and then probiotics in the morning and afternoon, that would be ideal. Problem is, I'm lucky if I remember to give him meds once a day!

Re: Diflucan and probiotics
I alternated the diflucan and the probiotics throughout the day. Maybe just set the timer?

Re: Diflucan and probiotics
I don't think the Diflucan will affect the probiotics. Diflucan goes after yeast...not bacteria, so it should be fine.

Re: Diflucan and probiotics
Diflucan is specifically an anti-fungal, not an antibiotic, so it may not at all affect the probiotic.
