I need unnatural relief
Not sure where to put this.
I have allergies. BAD. They're seasonal, but if I don't take Zyrtec every day I almost always have a slight runny nose. So usually Zyrtec is enough. Not right now. I'm in week three of swollen sinuses, constant watery itchy eyes, runny nose, cough, etc. We moved to a new house last March, and a month later, when allergy season started, I was just like I am now. Except it seems to be lasting longer this time. My fall symptoms have never been so severe. I have a neti pot. Basically I want to know what type of Sudafed to buy. I'm talking industrial strength allergy symptoms here, so I need chemicals. I'm taking Benadryl but it's making me really drowsy and yesterday I took the maximum dose over the course of the day and I'm really wanting to cut back on it. |

Zyrtec D. It's behind the pharmacy counter, and worth the time. My poor ds has needed it this fall, for the same reason.

Re: I need unnatural relief
Zyrtec D/Claritin D Or you can keep taking your current Zyrtec and get the Sudafed from behind the counter(pseudoephidrine-the 'new' kind doesn't do squat). I feel for ya! BTDT I'm sure last fall had chronic sinus infection/irritation. Could not breathe thru my nose, it was so bad! My allergist recommended Afrin, for use for 1 week, and ordered me not to use it further than that because of it's addictive nature. I still have it...never did use the stuff, because I was afraid of a more-horrible rebound effect.

Re: I need unnatural relief
Are either Zyrtec D or Claritin D safe to take while breastfeeding?
I get horrible allergies and just suffer cause I don't know what I can take.

Also wanted to say that Vit C is a natural antihistamine that will also help with swelling as it flushes you out.

Re: I need unnatural relief
They are generally safe, but the pseudoephidrine in the Sudafed may reduce supply. So watch, if you are worried about that. And drink lots of fluids.

Re: I need unnatural relief
Yikes! After you find some short-term relief, maybe you could look into a permanent cure from allergies with a NAET practitioner PM if you haven't heard about it before and want to chat.
