sudden strange rash on my little guy. cortizone allergy?

Help! He's super itchy. He was scratching at bedtime, so I put some hydrocortisone cream on some white bumps that were surrounded with red. As I rubbed in the meds, more bumps cropped up instantly. Can you be allergic to Cortizone 10?
Of course, we have no insurance and don't qualify for aid, so I definitely don't want to take him in. I usually use natural anti-itch stuff, but I was trying to knock it out with something that was in arm's reach so he could just go to sleep, and it got worse.

Words of wisdom?

sounds like he had some rxn to it.

I wouldn't use it anymore. Do you have any calendula (or have access to it?) That normally knocks down any allergic rxns in my littles.

Thanks for the replies. He got distracted by the TV while I posted this, then went to bed. He was fine this morning. There were a couple of the original bumps left, but they weren't bothering him.

I am...not sure if it's the main ingredient or what...I'm allergic to a lot. Is there fragrance?
