Chest congestion very restless
DD has had a couple rough nights. She's fine during the day, but wakes at night with productive cough, sounds very hoarse. Is this croup?
She is able to cough up some of the phlegm, but just wants to go back to sleep. Today she started with some upper respiratory, sniffing and sneezing and now the coughing is worse tonight. She sleeps for 30 minutes and then is up again another ten, crying and trying not to cough. Should I just put her in the bathroom and turn the shower on? I have some tea tree oil, but what do I put it on? A washcloth? We don't have a vaporizer or humidifier. I gave her some Advil and some Hyland's sniffles and sneezes. What else can I do?

GOOT (http://jacquedixon.com/?p=28),
I don't remember if it's in that same post or another one on that site, she also recommends honey & cinnamon for coughs. I make a "tea" of hot water with 1/4 tsp of cinnamon & a spoonful of honey, it's yummy. Apple cider vinegar is also good for coughs and congestion. For little ones I put about a tsp of ACV in 4-6 oz of purple grape juice (that's the only juice I've found with a strong enough flavor for ME to get the ACV down, but I'm not a fan of (eating) vinegar, can't stand vinagrette salad dressings or anything. I think I read someplace that grape juice is also helpful for coughs, but my main reason for putting the ACV in grape juice is that it masks the taste) I've sometimes put essential oils (that I want to "diffuse" into the room) a few drops on a washcloth and just lay it on the bed near my daughter's head. You can also mix a few drops into a carrier oil (or olive oil or whatever) and massage it into her chest.
