Is it safe to mix Homeopathics and Antihistamines?
Help me, I'm dyin' here! This is peak ragweed season, and though things are better than previous years, I'm still having itchy palate, runny/stuffy nose, sore/scratchy throat, just itchy all over from so much histamine running through my body, sneezing, itchy/red/watery eyes to the point that yesterday morning I suspected I have pinkeye.
I am taking homeopathics specifically for me, but they're just not doin' the job. Is it bad to take Claritin or Benadryl (or Claritin D...) with homeopathics? Or even some good old Sudafed or Mucinex? I am teaching Awana tonight, so I need to be presentable and be able to function....

Yep, it's fine. Although if it's the right homeopathic, you shouldn't need to.
I'd take Claritin D. |

Re: Is it safe to mix Homeopathics and Antihistamines?
Yeah, this eye itchy thing is driving me nuts...and it's new since I got my homeopathic...
Ugh. I actually, at one point last night of blowing my nose and rubbing my eyes, told my dh to "just shoot me". I know regular docs would say homeopathics don't do anything so go ahead and take an antihistamine....but I was curious what homeopathic-backers would say. It could be I need to take the homeopathic more often...maybe I will try that today... and if I venture out, I may break down and get some Claritin-D.....or I do have Claritin and old-school Sudafed...I think I can take them at the same time and get the same effect and not be out more $$$.

Re: Is it safe to mix Homeopathics and Antihistamines?
Our homeopath was fine with me doing what I needed to. She did what she could for C and said there was no harm in taking both. Some histiminum might help your immediate symptoms. You could take it up to every 15 min until you get some relief.
You might want to add some liver support. Helping the body detox better can really ease the histamine overload. The homeopath taught me that too. We usually use milk thistle. Some people get relief with high doses of Vitamin C. Last edited by sweetpeasmommy; 08-31-2011 at 11:16 PM. |

Re: Is it safe to mix Homeopathics and Antihistamines?
The other homeopathic I have is for large intestine and lung support. Before that, I was given one for gall bladder support. These are/were to go along with the allergy thing. The homeopathics go along with the BaxAura system/treatment I had about 6 weeks ago.
I did remember the vitamin C thing. And I've been trying to eat lots of onions/garlic (quercetin) and tea. And stay away from cucumbers and melon (since those are associated with ragweed allergies). I have noticed that since the first couple weeks of August, they have started to bother me when I ate them. Just subtly, nothing big and obvious, ya know? Ugh. Or maybe that's psychological, I dunno. ---------- Post added at 07:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:31 AM ---------- adding.... thinking about the liver and detox.....I was thinking that my skin issues (acne, itching) were caused by the Gluten I had a few weeks ago. Maybe. But it could also be that the gluten was a hit on my immune system...at the inopportune time of the start of bad allergy season. Probably a double whammy, huh?

There is no problem using those together. In fact, one of the beauties of homeopathics is, the factt hat you don't have to worry about drug interactions.
