I got CP when I was 17. I broke out with spots the day after my mom left for a week-long retreat 10 hours away.

I was NOT amused that it was just my father and I.

It was miserable. It probably didn't help that I first noticed it on my chest at school and still played flag football that night despite the fever. And our team won.

I think I only got two scars from it.

We had a chance to expose the girls to it this winter, but didn't take it because dh's daddy gut said that Dancing would be extremely miserable while not being able to comunicate and he didn't want to do that for her right now. Since he was right

we chose to delay. Can't wait to get it done and over with though.

Nope, currently two vaccines are the recommendation. Even if repeated boosters would eventually be recommended, many people would opt for that choice over the disease. (although maybe not many people on GCM).

My 13-month-old has CP right now- no pox party needed! He wasn't vaxed for it, and I have no idea where he caught it. I did want him to have it to get natural immunity, but I wish he had caught it when he was out of diapers

He's not a happy camper, but he's not scratching like crazy, thankfully.

Oh wait, I just saw your due date...because of the incubation period (2 weeks) you won't want to risk having pox in the house with a newborn.

Thats why I was hoping someone would be contagious this weekend, I figured should be out of the contagious period by baby time (excluding him coming early)

I'll just have to keep an eye out for another one within reasonable distance from me I guess

Open sores can get infected by staph. I knew someone with shingles who did get a secondary infection of staph on the blisters. However, being shingles, I should note that he didn't know what it was, and had tried several different soaps and lotions and ointments, trying to figure out what the rash was.

His son that caught CP from those shingles did not have staph.
