Default What can I do with kale?

I am determined to buy some, and I got some for $1 a bunch at the Farmer's Market.

Now, please tell me what do with it.

Really, help. I'm trying to change. I'm trying to do better. I just don't know how.

OMW, everything!

Sauteed with a little olive oil and garlic, salt and pepper
In soup with italian sausage and thinly sliced potatoes
Wilted kale and spinach salad with garlic and bacon
As the wrapper of a veggie wrap with hummus, cucumber, sprouts, and red peppers (with some mayo or cream cheese)

We always say "be realistic" as if that means slamming the door on our dreams. But it's also realistic to be happy, and to see your dreams fulfilled, and enjoy your life. Happiness and reality can co-exist. Dreams and reality can co-exist.

We cut the stems out, toss with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and then bake. Times vary. Google kale chips.

I also take the stems out and toss the leaves with other lettuces for salad.

And we sautéed it quickly with onions which is pretty tasty.

Kale chips are my favorite use for kale. They are good in fruit smoothies too.

I am with you Janice. I am trying to eat better too. I just recently bought a mixed bag of collard, turnip, mustard and swiss chard from Trader Joe's. I didn't even know they were supposed to be cooked when I bought it. I watched many youtube videos to figure out what to do with it. Having never eaten it before I am not sure if I did it right, but it tasted pretty good.

I have a bag of kale in my fridge now. I have used it in green smoothies in the past, but nothing else. I plan to cook it this time.

YUM! Boil a pot of them with some salt and a spoonful or so of chicken stock. Or just the salt.

Does it come out soggy? I'm not sure I could eat it soggy. Is it similar to cooked spinach? Because soggy, cooked spinach is I can handle it sauteed.

No, not soggy...they are firm unless you cook them wrong. If cooked greens aren't your thing (it's kinda southern, regional) you can eat it raw like salad or juice them. They are very versatile, no need to put kale in a box!

We use kale in our green smoothies. I usually add a handful or two of kale, a banana, and whatever frozen fruit sounds good (usually mixed berries and maybe some pineapple) and then I add enough water so it'll blend.

Default Re: What can I do with kale?

My kids love juicing. We just bought 25 lbs of carrots and almost that many apples and kale. My ds made a bunch by himself tonight. Just put more apples in than carrots and start with just a bit of kale. I can't believe how much my kids will drink. And I think the helping/doing it themselves part is key. If you don't have a juicer, you can get them cheap at rummage sales.
