Help! My email's been hacked!

how does this happen? I started getting "sent message failure" or something emails the other day, and figured out someone was spamming people in my address book from my email. I changed my password yesterday, and yet this morning I got more of those emails! Help!!!!

It's a virus

Download and run Superantispyware and Malwarebytes in that order. Then make sure your antivirus is up to date and run it. If you don't have antivirus, download and install Avast.

Those are all free, and they are very effective. If that doesn't work, let me know.

Usually all you have to do is change your password

that usually will stop the emails, but if she changed it and they are still going out, it's going to take more than that. If it makes you feel better, Jen, I'm always giving advice about this stuff and my own email got hacked like this a year or so ago.

I got a bunch of such emails today. They were already in my junk mail folder and I just deleted them without even looking at who they were from.

so, where do I run the anti-spyware? I'm normally just in my phone, but both our computers also have "push" email or whatever it's called where it all goes to the same place. I rarely ever go to yahoo or gmail to check my mail. It was my sbcglobal.net account that's being hacked... Am I to assume the computer that I changed my password from has a virus?

not only should you change your password, but your security questions as well

Also check to make sure they didn't get a "back door" into your account by setting up another e-mail as their secondary account (they will send the new password there if they say they forgot it

)

Sbcglobal.net, which I think is yahoo/AT&T .

i'm looking. I'm not familiar with sbcglobal

on my gmail, its in account settings on the same page as the password change info. I can't seem to find anything specific to SBCglobal
