Default Fermented Cucumber Recipe calling for 2 lbs of cukes?

I would like to try fermenting cucumbers/making real pickles, but all of the recipes call for huge batches. I would like to try it on a smaller scale.....

Does anyone have a recipe that makes, say, 2 quarts? And that I could maybe do in jars instead of crocks?

I'd just scale down the recipe and use a large jar or container. That's what I've done with salsa. Fermenting scales easily.

Can I use my stainless steel pot to ferment in?

I don't know. I use glass, personally.

This is my first time trying fermented pickles and I haven't finished a batch yet. Mostly wanted to sub. From what I've been reading, as long as the proportions of the recipe are followed EXACTLY, you can scale it however you like. A lot of people seem to be using food-grade plastic when they don't have crocks. I'm using an enameled pot and various food-grade plastic containers. All that said, again, this is my first time, so I'm only saying what I've read.

I wouldn't use metal. I think even being stainless, it won't be able to handle being wet for that long, esp. with acid developing. It will pit.
