Can we talk about colloidal silver?

Do you use it? Is brand very important when making a purchase? Side effects?

I would love some more immunity boosters in our home and this keeps popping up as a suggestion.

You hear so many diff.things BUT it is my understanding that it can upset gut flora like other antibiotic type things so dont use it as an immune builder but have used it with success to help heal more topical cuts and rashes etc. and also have used as an eye wash diluted some with purified water,throat gargle

My midwife recommended it when I had mastitis. That's all I really know about it.

my dad has a colloidal silver generator and he makes me some. I think he uses the lowest parts per million setting PPM. My uncle recommended it for pinkeye (he's an optometrist). We used it on my pinkeye when I was a kid with success several times. NEVER used antibiotics for the pinkeye and it cleared up in 2 days vs the normal 7 or so. I have let dd have some when she had cavities, hoping maybe it would kill bacteria but not sure whether it helped or not. I do believe in general it works. Not sure it's immune boosting but I would use it instead of antibiotics on some thing

I have been spraying a spray or two in my mouth almost daily. I have not gotten sick at all this season beyond a drippy nose.

. And we have had committing virus and several colds run through the kids.

I am a rather new user of colloidal silver. I am currently using it for Monkey's ear infection. (both in her ear and orally) I must say, she doesn't have any more fever, but the fluid won't drain. So, I'm not sure of what I'm going to do next.

DH used it to treat an abscessed tooth. It returned, but we later found out that tooth was dead and he had it removed. But it did clear up the abscess, twice.

You asked about side effects and if I'm not mistaken this is the one that if you use too much you can turn blue. Like really really blue. Like Vishnu blue. But I don't know how common that is.

There are products out there that specifically say "flushes out of your system within 24 hours"....so I'm wondering if that is a side effect for a product that stays in your system longer.

I do. If they let me. Ds1 actually stole the sprayer and has it on his carseat cup holder so when we go out we all spray.

I want to read about this from a good, reliable source (not just someone who sells it). It keeps popping up as a recommendation to me, too, but I'm somewhat skeptical. Google doesn't make want to run out and buy it. Not only the whole turning blue thing, but everyone saying there's no evidence it actually does anything and I thought I saw something about it actually being a different kind of silver than the ionized silver that's antimicrobial.

I'm open to trying it; I don't tend to trust big pharma and mainstream medicine--but I need hard facts about it.

We're a natural minded family and I've used it on ear infections and saw no benifits. We ended up using something else, but the name escapes me at the moment. I'll have to go look for it.
