Go to recipes with ground beef!

So the thread like this with chicken breast brought me lots of great ideas for dinners! So let's do it again with ground beef, because at least in my household ground beef and chicken breast are the two most common meal basis....

So what are your go to meals? What are the family favourites?

Ours are:

burgers on the grill
chili in the Instant Pot https://www.dadcooksdinner.com/press...nd-bean-chili/
tacos
meatloaf

I obviously need to add more to my rotation. :shifty

Re: Go to recipes with ground beef!

My favorite ground beef recipe hands down is one I made up - Ground beef gyros. I haven't made it for a long time because I have no idea what to use for a gluten free version of pita bread. The last time I made it, I had pitas for my family and I made mine into a salad which was good, but not the same as stuffed into a pita.

1 lb ground beef, cook and crumble ground beef seasoned with salt, granulated garlic, granulated onion, oregano, and lots of black pepper.

To make gyro: Stuff pita break with beef, sliced cucumbers, sliced red onions, sliced tomatoes, chopped romaine lettuce, crumbled feta cheese, and top with tzatziki sauce or a yogurt dill sauce (yogurt, mayo, dill, salt, pepper, lemon juice, granulated onion, granulated garlic).

I like these too:

Cheesy Mexican Stuffed Peppers
Greek Meatballs
Slow Cooker Bolognese-this makes enough for us to have three meals from it and so I freeze some of this in portions. It is so yummy.
Smothered Burritos - I make these with gluten free tortillas.

I love my Grandma's meatloaf recipe and her hamburger soup. I can write out the recipes if anyone wants them. And tacos are pretty regular around here, too.

Tacos/Enchiladas (probably once a week around here)
Meatballs (All kinds! Italian and Swedish, Egyptian Kofta, etc. etc. etc.)
Asian Lettuce Wraps (I do something similar, but have to sub out the soy sauce. We use fish sauce and lime juice, aminos, etc. Any ground meat I have on hand works.)
Eggroll in a Bowl
Chili

This is something I made up a few years ago and it's a family favorite...This is the amount I make for 7 people, the seasoning/sauce would be fine but you might want to reduce the honey to 1TBSP and Balsamic Vinegar to 1/8 cup if you are going with just a couple cups of brussel sprouts.

1-2lbs ground beef
1.5-2 lbs brussel sprouts (I get and use the big bags from Sam's or Costco)
chopped onion (optional)
2-3 cloves of garlic minced
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup balsamic

2 TBSP honey
1/2tsp Italian herbs
1 tsp salt

1. Brown ground beef with onion (optional)

2. while that's going chop all the brussel sprouts in half or quarters if the brussel sprouts are huge.

3.When the beef is mostly cooked add some extra olive oil (just drizzle it around) and throw brussel sprouts and garlic in and saute for 2-3 minutes on medium heat.

4. in small bowl mix together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, honey, herbs and salt.

5. Drizzle over brussel sprouts and beef mixture and toss in pan until well mixed. Toss for another 2 minutes.

6. Turn heat to low and Cover. Cook for 5-6 minutes (lifting lid and stirring once or twice). Brussel sprouts should be soft enough to easily be speared by fork. Give a bit more time covered if they aren't easy to spear yet.

Serve over rice or as a side with baked sweet potato and butter.

This is the most amazing beef recipe ever (I make it with Impossible Burger now, but back when I ate meat. . .) It says to use beef chuck but I always made it with ground beef. I double the dumpling amount- they are so good!

That was interesting! I've only had Americanized goulash and it always had tomatoes. I'm going to try this.

Will you post what you think after you try it?

My best friend's dad is from Hungary and they make goulash with both tomatoes and green peppers! I think it's tasty that way.

Shepard's Pie. Crumble cooked ground beef + whatever veggies your kids will eat (in my house corn and peas), covered in mashed potatoes. Cooked at 350 for 30 min. Super simple.
