Ooma? Magic Jack?

I need a home phone. Does anyone have any recommendations? I like Ooma, but I can't seem to find a referral. Help?

Re: Ooma? Magic Jack?

I had Ooma for years and years. It was well worth the cost of the price of the box bc then I only paid <$5/month. You need to have it for so long to make it cost effective. I had it way beyond that.
In the end the box was still working (I aam 86.74% certain we discarded the box, but if I didn't, I can send it to you. Then it really will be almost no cost).
We got rid of it because in the end we all had cell phones and never answered or used the home phone. I kept it around awhile for emergencies, but in the end wasn't sure the kids would think of it, go to it, etc. I figured if their cell phones were unavailable and it was an emergency the best bet was to leave and go to the neighbors home since we live in a suburban neighborhood.
And now that we have 2 Echos, those can be used to make phones calls so we have those as back up.

We have had ooma for years and years and years and still have it. I love it as our home phone. We started back when it was free and you only paid the taxes and got grandfathered in at those prices. I don't see us getting rid of it. We have an old school plug in phone attached to the wall and it's nice to know that if needed the kids can always make a call and that we can always be reached if needed when at home.

Not sure how the referrel system works but if you need one from a current user I'd be glad to go through whatever process that takes. Just lmk. :heart

ETA: I logged in to see. We've had it since 2013. Our monthly bill is $5.42 which is supposedly just the taxes (and FCC mandanted charges and such....). Not sure what rates are now.

Looks like there's a referrel link? Not sure if I can post it or need to break it? https://refer.invite.oomamarketing.com/x/OAHkbD

We have Ooma and love it. I think we also pay just over $5 per month. We never use it, but I wanted a "land-line" because occasionally our youngest would be left home alone, and she didn't have a cell phone. But, now we all have cell phones, so I'm not sure how long I'll keep Ooma. Now, I still do call the home phone when nobody will answer their cell phones!:giggle Thankfully, nobody ever calls that line except us - not even robo-dialers!

Thanks! Unfortunately, Tapatalk didn't notify me of these replies and I forgot to come back and check before ordering on Amazon. :sigh:
