Bear and I decoupaged a 50 cent notebook for her friends birthday this weekend using scrapping papers we had laying around. :shrug

scarfs out of fleece. You can get two different ones & then tie them together in squares.

Ooh, we've done that. You can even fold up the bottom or use another square tied to the fringe to make a little pocket or place to keep mittens or warm your hands.

Re: easy, cute, (rather inexpensive) gift crafts... without sewing?

fleece ponchos (one year I did "native american" costumes- striped fleece and I made ponchos and a maching feather warpped in fleece for "headgear" for my little ones)

girly fleece ponchos

knotted fleece bags

knotted fleece blankets (watch for sales at Joannes or use 50% off coupons)

ornaments - make circular ones with small christmas pictures glued onto lids of cans or jars and hung from a ribbon

:think trying to think of other "no sew" items I have made :think

Did you see the link for picture boards in the sticky from last year's christmas thread http://www.organizedchristmas.com/french-memory-board It says "sew" but it's not really a sew item. YOu have to thread a needle and attach a button to the board but that's it :tu

That website is very neat :tu bookmarked it

thought of more
*brownie, muffin or soup layered pretty into a jar
*homemade glycerin soaps (just melt and pour into molds)

:tu awesome list!
I can handsew, a few buttons, a few small seams, etc. I just don't have a sewing machine, nor have I ever used one...

i love the aromatherapy gift idea page :tu

I'm thinking bath fizzies may be a fun gift this year. Add those with a crochet special wash cloth - like in the shape of a flower or something.

Re: easy, cute, (rather inexpensive) gift crafts... without sewing?

floral pens in flower pots

You take a pen, and a fake flower, and use floral tape to wrap the stem to the pen. Then you glue a block of styrofoam or floral foam to the bottom of a flower pot, and glue a little dried Spanish moss to hide it. Stick the pens into the foam block, and you have a flower pot full of pretty pens that are harder to for people borrow and lose.

I got one as a teacher gift, and have made them now or anyone with a desk...homeschoolers, moms, anyone who can't find a pen when they need it.

that's a really cool gift! Plus it might deter my husband from walking off with my floral pens (although he'll tell you I'm far more guilty of that).

Maybe you're already done, since it's getting close to Christmas, but here's another idea. For my birthday, my friend made me some adorable photo blocks.

She got a 4x4 piece of untreated lumber cut into cube blocks at Home Depot (they charge a nominal fee for the cuts). Then she decoupaged the blocks with scrapbooking papers, and put all sorts of pretty embellishments and quotes and stuff on them, and left empty places for me to add photos. She gave me a set of 5 blocks. (And she got a total of like 27 blocks out of one piece of wood, for less than $10.)

You can see pics on my blog http://jenanddarrellclark.blogspot.c...-counting.html.

I think I'm going to make and personalize marshmallow shooters for everyone in my extended family that will be getting together on christmas. I originally was thinking just the kids, but then I thought the dads might want to get in on that action too, and if dads are armed moms should be. *ponder*

I like to make the fleece blankets, but I can never figure out how to make the fleece scarfs. I wish I knew how to use a sewing machine my crafts would be endless.

:bump

just in case anyone has more ideas. I'm looking for a gift for my sister. Free is the best :shifty (I'm not cheap, just low budget :giggle)

I'd really like to make her a journal that I typed up (so that every page has questions and space to answer - this is what she's told me she needs) but I don't know how to bind it - I could use a binder but I wanted something a little nicer kwim?)
