Favorite Filtering and Parental Control for PC and Android

I don't really like our current filter. We keep having a lot of technical issues.

I would like to be able to set time limits on certain apps, block adult content, and monitor web activity. Also, my kids recently started using Discord to play minecraft while talking to friends, and they use it for messaging. We limit who they can interact with, but I'd like to monitor a bit.
It seems I have friends that can cut their children's app usage in an instant, and read all of their messages, but they have iphones and apple stuff.
Also, we don't have a single PC for each child, so profiles are tricky.

I also want them to be able to take their laptops to classes away from home and be safe on the internet.(ie, not accidentally stumble across something inappropriate, or on purpose at the urging of friends)

What are you using now?

My dh can cut off the internet by device through the app that controls our router. (I think that's how he does it.)

We used to use OpenDNS for a filter. There's a free version and a paid version, which I think is $20/year.

I don't remember what we're using now.

We have the Circle by Disney and we love it. We went with the old now discontinued (but you can still purchase it through some places) 1st generation because it's a one time purchase with no annual fee. The downside of the 1st generation is that it only offers protection to devices while on our router. I believe the later versions have the feature that you can protect devices when they're out of the home.

I love it so much. I can set time limits, allow and disallow certain apps and can make the settings unique to each child. I can have off times and bedtimes.

An added benefit is that I can pause the internet with one button either for the whole household or just one child. I've used it before when a child isn't listening. :shifty You'd be amazed at how quickly I get their full attention once their internet gets cut off. :lol

I use Qustodio. It's a pay service but have had good luck with it. I no longer use things like time limits or times but can see what time they get off so would if it would be a problem again.

I used Norton Family in the past and it was TERRIBLE. So definitely stay away from that one. Super glitchy.
