I also make it very occasionally with black beans and bell peppers and onions. Serve over rice. I really like it like this but it's not as appreciated by my family.

I make picadillo and put it into the equivalent of empanadas. My DH is Puerto Rican though so he calls them pastelillos. I haven’t made it in so long I forgot about it. Adding to my meal plan!
