Default Prediabeties

Help me with a new way to live. I am not totally unhealthy but I need help. My bad habit of drinking soda is over. I have stopped drinking coke and to stop craving drinking Coke Zero. I bought Stevia sweetener been not eating rice or pasta as much. I just need encouragement and some meal ideas especially for work. I am scared to get diabetes. I have plexus to try too. The doctor put me on metformin but it’s a nightmare to take and I have terrible diarrhea I want to try something natural and try a different diet.

Are you tapering up on the metformin? It might take a month but you will mostlikly get where it doesn't bother you.

I have been on metformin for 11 years.

The easiest way that I have found when making major diet changes ( when we took dairy, soy and gluten out) has been to not try to use replacements for a year but simply find food that doesn't include what ever we are ovoiding.

So I love cauliflower rice, and chickpea pasta but I wouldn't suggest you try either of thoes right away.

Are there meals that you already like that fit in to your new diet? Can you start by having thoes frequently?

I agree with Knit love about avoiding subs it makes it so much harder to resist cheating.
I had blood work that showed I was prediabetic. I went on the whole 30 full out, for 45 days. My blood work came back perfect.
It also helped with a lot of diet changes and cutting a lot of cravings.

My functional medicine doctor put me on berberine, chromium, alpha-lipoic acid, and coQ10 for the same issues. I struggle with sticking to the dietary stuff some, but it does help. Dairy is another thing that can spike an insulin response in some people. It's not good for me, and I try to avoid it, but it's hard

I would start with figuring out what you can add in for what you will be taking out.

Usually, if someone decides just to cut out soda and rice, it's really hard. But if you decide you'll have sparkling water or iced tea instead of soda and green beans instead of rice, you'll be better prepared. Make sure you keep your kitchen stocked with the alternatives. Treat yourself to strawberries or something healthy that you enjoy. Some people find that stevia increases cravings for sweets. Personally, it makes me feel really weird. Just keep an eye out with stevia.

Are you able to exercise? Regular exercise is a great way to keep blood sugar more stable.

A good 8 hours of sleep is really important, too.

As for the metformin, I am supposed to take One tablet twice a day. I been taking one tablet once a day. I was wondering how long I need to taper it so I bet I just need to wait a little longer.

As for meals I make a lot of food from scratch but I like comfort foods so we live in Idaho. I eat a lot of potato’s so honestly that would be the hardest to cut out completely. I love Brussels sprouts and so I been eating a bag full at a time. I also been making more vegggies. I like them but I just forget to make them or get lazy. I like salads and soups. I typically make homemade bread with my soups. I can make my wheat bread it has no sugar in it. Just honey and it’s higher in fiber.

Thanks I didn’t know that about Stevia but I really only sprinkle it on my cereal for now. I haven’t tried baking with it yet. I am looking into Monk Juice? Someone told me about that today.

Exercise yes I am able too but do I want too lol . I have a hip issue so walking too long makes it hurt. I am thinking of starting to walk more now that its cooled off or go to the gym or something. I am trying to see how to fit this into my life more for sure.

Making vegtables is hard. I do better to try to prep a lot of salid things at one time and have them ready to go in my fridge.

These bags really do work. They let me have cut up lettus and broccoli in my fridge for over a week.

Lately I have found them online and at bead bath and beyond.

I have been useing them and following this product sence I was 14 and tested them as my science fair project, I wrote to the company, at the time a small company based in Houston. They have been sold several times, and I have kept following them.

They really are amazing! I will keep cut lettus ( like cut with a knife not even the right way to tear it) for more than a week. I can forget about cabbage for a month and have it still be perfect.

Oh and I will use it on on pears and avocados where I weight untill they are ripe and then can actually keep them at an eatable state for a more than the 12 hours that seems to be normal other wise.
