Re: Bread Machine vs Stand Mixer
I make bread dough in my bowl lift KitchenAid. Not regularly but every once in awhile. It works fine.
I had a Bosch years ago when I made whole wheat bread every week for several years. I don't really understand buying a bread machine just to do the dough. I'd just buy a mixer. Let dough rise in the oven with the oven light on if needed. Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk

Re: Bread Machine vs Stand Mixer
Do you have a good processor? If so do you ever make bread dough in that?

Re: Bread Machine vs Stand Mixer
If you have an Instant Pot with a yogurt button, that's how I do my dough rising.

Re: Bread Machine vs Stand Mixer
How much baking do you do and what kind? When my kids were little I did a LOT of baking. A Kitchen Aid up/down was more than sufficient for everything I needed. But I only baked bread for fun on occasion. It was mostly muffins, cookies, homemade lara bars, etc.
I don't bake very often anymore. Birthdays and holidays and the occasional treat. I use my bread machine on the dough setting at least once a week, though. It is extremely convenient to be able to dump ingredients in and walk away. Then all I have to do is shape it into rolls, pizza dough, etc. at my convenience. If you do a lot of baking, you may find an expensive appliance worth it. If you don't, it's money you could put elsewhere. Plus it's a big thing to store. Re: Bread Machine vs Stand Mixer
The one and only thing I make is pizza dough about once a week or every other week. I hate working with dough. I want whatever I get to be nearly hands off. That seems like the bread machine might be the best option for me. Hope was my baker. I hate baking. I want whatever appliance will do the job easiest for me. I haven't perfected gf and egg free bread-making enough to even consider doing it on a regular basis. It's easiest and tastiest to buy at the store. The things I make rarely - biscuits, cake, muffins - are all mixed in a bowl. I make pie crust on rare occasion in the food processor. I can't see myself making too much more than that. Am I talking myself into another bread machine?

Re: Bread Machine vs Stand Mixer
It sure sounds like it. I used to like baking but now I really dislike it.

Re: Bread Machine vs Stand Mixer
Yes, it sounds like the bread machine is what you need! I feel like those are super common at Goodwill. You might check out some places like that for one. Or if you have a local Facebook group for buying/selling used stuff or even the free groups. For what you are using it for, if I were you, I wouldn't bother getting anything new.

Re: Bread Machine vs Stand Mixer
Finally ordered a bread machine and made pizza dough for the first time in what seems to be a long time! I do like pizza!
