Re: kombucha 101 thread!
Start slow. It's fine!
Of course there are conflicting opinions on this. It's up to her and her comfort level. Just like some people completely avoid mayo, lunch meat, etc. During pregnancy... and others don't. |

Re: kombucha 101 thread!
I didn't do Bucha during my pregnancy. My MW said not to for two reasons, one the alcohol (so minimal, but could maybe be a concern with home brew) but more so because it is a detox and detox is not recommended during pregnancy. I don't think my diet was that healthy before and that was a concern for me.
If I'd know about chlorella then...I probably would have slowly and in moderation. (with bentonite clay baths too )

Re: kombucha 101 thread!
Should be fine to do KT while pregnant. People do all the time in Mongolia, Russia, Eastern Europe and parts of Europe. Just start way slow and be mindful while doing so as it does cleanse you out. If you're doing the normal crunchy hippie-dippie stuff, it's really not a huge change for your body. If you aren't though, it can be a bit uncomfortable.

Re: kombucha 101 thread!
I use old honey jars to 2nd ferment, and I run them through the dishwasher too. I don't wash the main KT jar though... at the most I might rinse it occasionally.

Re: kombucha 101 thread!
My scoby has a bubble! I think there was air trapped between the mother and a baby formed between the mother and the air pocket. What should I do?

Re: kombucha 101 thread!
It's okay to pop the bubble with a knife. Mine gets them, too.

Re: kombucha 101 thread!
I was scared to touch it with something metal so I used a clean toothpick. It was TOUGH!!! LOL
So if you do a continuous brew what kind of container do you use. I have been stalking some on Amazon but I'm not sure which ones to buy. I keep thinking that no plastic is supposed to touch it so what about the spigot thing?? Isn't that plastic? |
