Cubed Steak Recipes
We have so much cubed steak. We get so much of it when we get 1/2 cow, and I almost never make it. It is time to start cooking some of it. I don't really know what to do with it that would be gluten free, onion, and mushroom free.
The gluten free part is not too hard, but I don't know what to make without onions and mushrooms. Any ideas? I know that pioneer woman has that "Marlboro man" sandwich. I could just not eat a roll. I don't particularly like Swiss steak or pepper steak.

Re: Cubes Steak Recipes
Chicken fried steak - dredge in flour (or do the breading station - flour, egg, coating) and fry in a skillet. Plenty of GF options there. I'd just use an all-purpose GF flour blend and probably GF panko. I wonder if a tempura batter (rice flour) would work? You'd probably have to deep fry it. (I've never tried it with steak, only veggies.)
We do the side of beef every year, too and cube steak is one of those pesky little cuts I had never bought before and had no idea what to do with! We've got a bunch in the freezer right now.

Re: Cubes Steak Recipes
Beef stew or beef curry are the only dishes I make with stewing beef. However, I use sliced flank steak for Korean beef and I think stewing beef would work okay for that too, I might just cut the cubes in half first. It would be easy to omit onions for those recipes and mushrooms aren't in the recipes I use. Another option is a beef veggie soup. Just cut the cubes smaller before or after cooking. Lastly, you can make beef stroganoff (just sub what you need to make it GF).

I have used cubed steak in pulled beef recipes in my dutch oven (in the oven) as well as in the crock pot. I like the dutch oven much better.

Re: Cubed Steak Recipes
I think any recipe that calls for stew meat would work since it's a little tough.
My mom used to fry cubed steak and serve it like hamburgers. I think I've only cooked it a few times in my life. |

Re: Cubed Steak Recipes
I was going through recipes the other day and came across this one for cubed steak.
We made this last summer on the grill and it was tasty. Sorry I didn't post earlier when you actually needed it, but I had totally forgotten! Perhaps it will come in handy in the future.

Re: Cubed Steak Recipes
We always just fry it as a breakfast food. Dry cast iron. Salt one side, cook about 3 minutes, salt the top side, flip, cook about 3 minutes. Eat

Re: Cubed Steak Recipes
I marinate it and grill it for kabobs. (I use venison. I haven't actually tried it for beef but since beef is more tender, it should be just as good)
It's not the most tender ever, but it's pretty good. My people like it Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk

Re: Cubed Steak Recipes
I might try that, too, because we are out of stew meat, and I do like making beef stew in the IP.

Re: Cubed Steak Recipes
Just pan fried in butter with salt and pepper is great! You can also grill it just like that. Just gotta be careful not to overlook it as it can get tougher. Gluten free country fried steak is tricky but it can be done. But yeah I use cube steak for an easy dinner, just cooked in cast iron with whatever sides I have on hand. My husband eats the leftovers cold. Kids dip it in ketchup.
