Thinx Period Panties class action lawsuit

I know that some of you might use period panties for yourself or your daughter. This is a health issue with the Organic Thinx Period panties containing dangerous chemicals in the crotch area.

I just heard about this, too.



I'm wondering if it's just this brand? Lots of companies make them. And the lawsuit was settled. What I read is that no harm to people has been found, just that the chemicals were there and they are going to be removed. At least that's what I remember from the article I read.

Thinx denies those allegations, with a company spokesperson telling NPR in an email that PFAS have never been part of its product design and that it will continue to take measures to ensure the chemicals are not added to its products.

Thinx will also take steps to ensure that PFAS are not intentionally added to its underwear at any stage of production and adjust some of its marketing language, including disclosing the use of antimicrobial treatments. It will also continue to have suppliers of raw materials sign a code of conduct and agreement attesting that PFAS are not being intentionally added to Thinx underwear.

That’s upsetting. I have used these in the past. I threw them all away postpartum with my last baby because they were giving me recurrent UTI’s (which took me a while to figure out) I’m sure the $17 or so dollars will make up for the toxic chemical exposure though. /s

Many popular brands were sued based off a blog post by social influencers and no scientific research. Thinx settled. Knix is fighting it.
