Need a bread recipe...
Anyone have a bread recipe (rolls would work too ) that doesn't need to rise for very long so that I could cook it start to finish in about an hour?
I need it for a Sunday school lesson I've agreed to teach. (what have I gotten myself into? |

Re: Need a bread recipe...
I'll have to pm you a recipe, I got it from someone here, but I don't want to run into any copyright problems! It's a great ww bun recipe, takes about half an hour or so, start to finish! If anyone else wants the recipe, I can send it to you!

Re: Need a bread recipe...
Oh, quick question, how many does it make. I'll probalby make a sample batch tomorrow and know the answer but thought I'd ask too. I don't want too many leftovers - I'll be doing it w/ different groups every Sunday for a month!

Re: Need a bread recipe...
Thanks Jeri! I always try to be very careful! I do change the dierections and give some tips. Here it is!
1 TBL honey 1/2 c warm water 1 TBL yeast Dissolve yeast in honey water. Add: 1/2 c veg. oil, (I use Canola or olive, I don't think it matters) 2 c milk (I use soy milk, but you could use rice or cow's milk or whatever) 1/2 c honey 1/2 tsp baking soda 5 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp salt 5-7 cups flour ( I usually use a cup or two of bread flour or all-purpose flour, then the rest whole wheat, you can use all ww or more white flour) 3 tsp. gluten (optional, it makes them a bit more fluffy, plus added protein!) Mix it all up and knead well. You don't have to let it rise. Form into tennis ball size rolls or a little bigger and bake at 425 for 10 min. or so, (I spray the cookie sheet) you may just want to open one up and check it (until you get to the point where you can tell by the color when they are done). The dough can be refrigerated for up to two wekks, but I notice they start to smell yeasty after a few days. They usually don't last that long anyway! It's nice to make five or six at a time and have fresh rolls. My dh and ds both love these and they are nice and healthy! They make about 12-16, I think, depending on the size. Enjoy! I love these so much! We make at least one batch a week and eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner (with other stuff of course!).

Re: Need a bread recipe...
Thanks! I just made our test batch w/ my 5 year old and it came out great! We used vanilla soy milk (all I had in the house) and didn't have enough honey, but it turned out yummy and ds was able to help me w/ it easily so it should be fine for the second graders to do!
