Re: My cold/flu season secret weapons, please share yours!
I must agree with the mama who mentioned breastmilk! My youngest hasn't been sick yet and all the rest of us have had the gunk in one form or another...it is just amazing!

Re: My cold/flu season secret weapons, please share yours!
So far this season DD1 and DH had the flu. Me and DD2 have not. Then a few weeks ago DD1, DH and myself all had the stomach bug, but DD2 did not get sick at all. I attribute that to her getting immunities toward it in my breastmilk. Same for when the other two caught the flu and we didn't.

breast milk. My kids had the tummy but, and I know my 2 yo would have been in the hospital if it wasn't for the constant feeding around the clock.

Re: My cold/flu season secret weapons, please share yours!
I'm a bit late in the season, but I just added some dried elderberries to some bourbon (it's what I had on hand). I'll let it steep for a good month or more before straining it and adding honey.
Currently the kids are taking EFA's, vitamin C (Natural Factors chewables- no artificial junk in them, which was harder to find than I thought it would be), a multi chewable from Sisu and vitamin D drops. I need to get some astragalus, too. I just took some wild oregano oil in water and put a dab in each ear, since my ears are feeling a bit itchy and congested, and I'm noticing a little congestion in my chest and nose. I also took a Zicam. And we have occilloccinum on hand, too. As well as ColdFX. In the event of sore throats and coughs, I made up some slippery elm lozenges, and have more of the powder on hand for adding to warm cider or apple juice. It soothes the throat and calms coughs.

Re: My cold/flu season secret weapons, please share yours!
Thanks for sharing ... looks like a great plan! Have you ever heard of immunical? (sp?!) My father's been using if for three years now ... it's an immune system booster he found out about from a nutritional doctor who's helping him fight cancer. It's really working for him, he's truly a walking miracle ... she reports that she too takes it as well as gives it to her young children. Not sure of their ages, but I think elementary aged children. I've not tried it because it's pretty expensive, but thought I'd throw out an immune system builder that maybe you hadn't heard of before. Best!

Re: My cold/flu season secret weapons, please share yours!
This thread is so informative!!
I was wondering how these 2 compare: Echinacea and Astragulas vs Echinacea and Goldenseal Why choose one over the other? Is there anything that combines all 3? |
