Raclette....
I'm not sure if this goes here. Feel free to move it.
We are having a raclette party for my dad's 60th birthday. So I need some ideas as to what to have. What meat, cheese, veggies, and fruit would you serve?

Re: Raclette....
Yum! Totally jealous. I'd head to Trader Joe's & get some fancy ham. I can't think what it's called, not proscuitto, something else. Boiled potatoes are good. There is a raclette cheese. You could also do Roquefort. Salami, cornichons, are also traditional.

Re: Raclette....
I don't think we have Trader Joe's in Canada because I had never held of it before joining GCM

Re: Raclette....
usually when we do raclette, DH insists on canned pears that are drained, with cheese and honey on top. I was very skeptical, but I liked it!
We had chicken, salsa, lots of vegetables (mushrooms too) and I forget what all else for my birthday. |

Re: Raclette....
We LOVE Raclette and will do it for Christmas!
Raclette is a type of cheese made in France or Switzerland. It's traditionally melted in individual trays and then put on top of boiled potatoes with all the other fixings already mentioned. Adding to the list: cocktail onions bacon strip steak baby corns (pickled or not) green and black olives For the more Western palate, I always have some sour cream and cheddar cheese. My SIL doesn't like the taste of Raclette cheese.

Re: Raclette....
I never heard of it either so I had to google! Apparently it is a soft cheese that is melted and poured or scraped over other food.
Ah, Tracey beat me to it. |

Re: Raclette....
I think *once* I found some raclette cheese at Superstore. But there are lots of other yummy options. Have you ever tried a dill havarte cheese with this? SUPER YUM!
Have a fun night.
