Is there a delicious frozen pizza anymore?
I don't think there is. About 25-30 years ago we used to buy this frozen pizza called Bravissimo. It had a delicious crust, delicious sauce, lots of spinach, and I think 3 cheeses. They stopped making it about 20 years ago, I think. I don't know why. It was so good.
Sometimes I just need something I can throw in the oven that doesn't cost a fortune. We are out of running water today so I can't wash pots and pans or even give my hands a really good scrub. So I was looking in the supermarket. Even the crappy cardboard-tasting frozen pizzas were $8-10. I ended up buying some that were on sale for $5 plus the cauliflower crust pizzas as I find they have more flavor. I fully admit to being very picky about pizza. I don't like Papa Murphy's, I think it's bland. But I don't expect much from frozen pizza, but it should taste like something. |

Red Baron brick oven style rising crust pizza is very good.it doesn’t taste like take out, though- it tastes like frozen pizza, but good frozen pizza.

Re: Is there a delicious frozen pizza anymore?
On the recommendation of a friend I recently bought a few Dr.
Oetker pizzas for $3.50 each. I will try to come back with a review after they are baked. My usual go to frozen pizza is from Costco, but I thought I would mix it up for my boys (they are the ones who pop one in the oven when they need a quick meal). I like the gf cauliflower crust pizza that Costco sells, but it isn’t as filling as a grain crust pizza for me.

Re: Is there a delicious frozen pizza anymore?
I doctor the frozen gf pizza from Costco. I add bbq sauce, canned chicken, artichoke hearts, mushrooms and pineapple depending on what I have in the house. I also add a sprinkle of sharp cheddar cheese. It’s my go to when my family wants grain filled dinner.
Currently our Costco has the Milton’s brand with peppers. Not my favorite. I liked the gf cheese pizza they had for a while better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We've done Digiorno's and its was fine. But any more we'll just do Domino's $6 specials.

Re: Is there a delicious frozen pizza anymore?
There is a deep dish Giorandos we really like - its the only frozen pizza that we think tastes good (*fully disclaimer, ds will eat any and all frozen pizzas). . . but when we want ease of frozen pizza we often do those refridgerated ones the grocery stores make. And they are larger so a better deal.
I don't think we have ever had Papa Murphys. We dont like Papa Johns and will do Dominos for cheap low quality pizza bc its better than most frozen imo.

I like California kitchen, it's a very thin flaky crust, and the toppings are quality.

I forgot! The Aldi brand is big and decent.

Re: Is there a delicious frozen pizza anymore?
My parents like Freschetta pizza, the kind that rises in the oven. That's for thick crust pizza lovers only, though. Costco used to have a Take and Bake Pizza, that we would freeze, but our local store has discontinued those.
If you like thinner crust, De Oetker is pretty good. We freeze homemade pizza. Usually it's just the leftovers from pizza night, but sometimes we'll grill or bake off a couple of extra crusts and freeze those. When I make red sauce I always double it and freeze half. We use garlic oil or garlic confit instead of red sauce about half the time and we usually have that and Romano cheese in the fridge at any given moment. So there are components. My dh is incredibly serious about his pizza. He makes dough almost every week, starting with a pre-ferment on Thursday for 12-18 hrs and then a regular rise in the fridge for 12-24. All to be ready for Sunday night Pizza.

Re: Is there a delicious frozen pizza anymore?
Do you have a pizza stone? That makes a big difference I've found for cooking frozen or fresh store bought pizza. We usually add more cheese and toppings. Our favourite is the Aldi pizza. Fairly inexpensive and huge.
That said, I haven't found one that truly compares to homemade or from the pizzeria.... But these other options are good for quick and easy.

Yes, using a pizza stone helps so much!

Re: Is there a delicious frozen pizza anymore?
We do have pizza stones but no Aldi.
I'm pretty picky, I admit. I've tried all of the above except for Aldi and I'd rather just have cold cereal then eat bland pizza. . We make homemade pizza once a week when things aren't crazy and I'm totally spoiled. I think it's the sauce that's lacking in frozen pizza. It's so bland. |

Re: Is there a delicious frozen pizza anymore?
If you already make pizzas at home you could freeze those. Precook the crust and then just top and freeze
