Sewing machine for 5 year old?
My DD *really* wants a sewing machine for her birthday. She talks about it all the time, and really wants to learn to sew.
What machine do you get for a child, especially one that young? I'm leaning towards a cheap, real machine, I think. I have/had a $100.00 Singer from WalMart, but it doesn't work anymore, and it's $60 to get it serviced, plus whatever needs to be fixed....so I'm in the market for a machine, too...so that may influence what you give me for advice. Thanks!!

My sister got this one for my niece when she was 4, and she uses it herself sometimes, and she's a professional

I've heard the Hello Kitty 3/4 machine recommended often. It's the same manufacturer as Janome...which makes really good ones that sewing machine stores carry.

So, I need to update my sigg Dd1-11yo  , Ds1--6.5yo  , Ds2--almost 5yo , and finally, the toddler baby dd2-1.5yo and climbing. 08-13-09  Oh yeah, and I'm an ENFP (And if you are reading this thinking that my kids must have aged a couple years overnight...um, yeah, it really was a long time since I last updated my sigg.  )

We got DD one from Walmart for, like, $80 - and it's better than my Husky-Star! It's this one.

Lexi...that looks like a great machine for $50!
It says 8 and up...I'm sure with supervision a 6 yr old could learn to operate.
